Fabearth

As a researcher of culture and the environment, and as a parent raising a young child in an increasingly uncertain world, I found myself asking a question familiar to many: What kind of planet are we leaving behind?

An image is a powerful tool, it not only speaks but makes us think, we recall images and realise their impact later at times. And in this case the canvas is a t-shirt as the medium of talking about protecting our planet.

Fabearth is a small, deliberate, personal project. It showcases apparel designed around endangered species, with each garment carrying original artwork of a single animal or plant species along with its conservation status.

It encourages children and adults to ask questions about a species: their habitat, place of origin, their role in biodiversity and their current numbers on the planet. I hope such conversations can have some positive effect on what is happening to our world.
